Nächstes Highlight & ein ARC | Weekly Reading №135
Seit letzter Woche konnte ich mein bei Kindle Unlimited geliehenes Buch Wonder beenden, aber auch das Audiobook The Songbird & the Heart of Stone. Während mich das erste gut unterhalten konnte (s. Rezi), war ich vom dritten Band der Crowns of Nyaxia – Reihe einfach nur enttäuscht. Wobei ich hier auch klar sagen muss, dass mir die weibliche Stimme ordentlich auf die Nerven ging. Während die Sprecherin in den ersten zwei Teilen noch alles richtig gemacht hat, war das Gejammere der Prota in Teil 3 nicht zu ertragen.
Ich komme mit diesen jammernden Püppchen echt nicht klar, die immer alle nur ins Negative herunterziehen, anstatt sich an den starken männlichen Charakteren zu orientieren und etwas Selbstvertrauen daraus ziehen. Mische hat dahingehen null Charakterentwicklung vollzogen. Ich werde die Reihe hier wohl dann auch abbrechen.

The Throne of Broken Gods
Ich bin wieder hin und weg. Die Geschichte hat genau da weitergemacht, wo The Book of Azrael aufgehört hat. Die Charaktere schließe ich immer mehr in mein Herz. Die Tiefe der Handlung und der Charaktere nimmt weiter zu, als auch das Mysteriöse. Ich kann wirklich überhaupt noch nicht sagen, in welche Richtung sich das hier alles entwickelt, aber ich feuere die Protagonisten innerlich an.

Mit 22% im Buch unterhält mich die Geschichte bereits sehr gut, auch wenn noch nicht genau abzusehen ist, wohin die Reise führt. Allerdings hat die Handlung inkl. der beiden Figuren eine Ähnlichkeit zu der Mythologie um Hades & Persephone.
Draven ist der König des Dunklen Reiches und wird mit Lady Eden gegen beider Willen auf einem Fest verlobt. Dravens Brüder haben dies eingefädelt, da einer der beiden glaubt, dass Edens Mutter gegen ihn intrigiert.
Aktuell bin ich an dem Punkt, dass Eden nun im Reich von Draven angekommen ist und sich in ihrer neuen Umgebung erst einmal zurechtfinden muss. Wie die beiden Charaktere mit ihrer ungewollten Verlobung weiter umgehen werden, muss ich noch herausfinden. Aber ich gehe mal stark davon aus, dass es eine Art slow-burn enemies-to-lovers Ding sein wird. Auch hoffe ich, dass Eden sich als starke Protagonistin entpuppen wird.
