A Review
Opinion
The seamless continuation of the events in the first book was executed beautifully. Andrews makes sure that readers who have read the first book in a while are gently reminded of the intricate plot lines with a careful overview at the start. This caring touch immediately reignites the enthusiasm and immersion in Ever‘s universe.
At the beginning of this tale lies the perilous journey of our FMC, Livia, who finds herself ensnared in the clutches of Erik‘s brutal and bitter rival for the crown of the Kingdom of Ever. The stakes are higher, the dangers more menacing, and the mysteries more tantalizing than ever before.
What genuinely distinguishes The Ever Queen is Andrews‘ excellent narrative. The story progresses from alternating perspectives, diving deeply into the stormy emotions of both main protagonists. This storytelling approach not only adds layers of depth to the story, but it also allowed meto gain a greater grasp of the protagonists’ inner struggles and outcomes.
The book’s exciting twists and pulse-pounding action scenes will delight action lovers. Andrews brilliantly maintains a riveting pace, ensuring that every page is full of tension and thrill.
One of the highlights for me was the climactic battle that took place in the final quarter of the novel. Compared to other fantasy works where the main battles feel rushed, Andrews dedicates sufficient space to this crucial event, allowing me to soak up every exhilarating moment.
And just when I thought I’ve caught my breath, Andrews delivers a jaw-dropping ending that left me clamoring for more. The subtle cliffhanger is a stroke of brilliance, perfectly setting the stage for the next standalone installment, while leaving me eagerly anticipating what lies ahead.
